THE BIBLICAL THEOLOGY OF CHILD ADOPTION: A PALLIATIVE FOR CHRISTIAN COUPLES WITH THE CHALLENGE OF INFERTILITY

About the Book

This study was conceptualized to access the acceptability of child adoption as a viable option for Christian couples with the challenge of infertility within the African context
By this study, the author does appreciate the efficacy of prayers and Divine intervention in cases of barrenness and also emphasizes in very strong terms the need for child adoption for Christian couples trusting God for the fruit of the womb. While infertility is not life threatening, those who experience it suffer both physically and emotionally. Often, couples don’t know where to turn for answers when dealing with this agonizing problem. The specific objectives of this book therefore is to identify at random Christian couples with the challenge of infertility in selected congregation in the Diocese with a view to propose child adoption as a viable option for infertility, with Biblical instances.
This study became imperative considering the various attempts Christian couples with the challenge of infertility have made to cushion the effect of the trauma they go through to have children of their own. The courage to engage in other alternatives like adopting at least a child becomes imperative in this regard. Although the idea of child adoption is considered oblivious by some, the author wishes to re-enthrone this concept on a place of prominence making it a viable option for Christian couples with the challenge of infertility.
